Speech from Mr. Leung Kin Cheung, Chiarman of the Hong Kong Rope Skipping Federation, China:

 

First of all, I would like to thank you all for coming to the Asia and Pacific Jumping Rope Championship 2017.

 

It is an honour that the Asia and Pacific Jump Rope Championship 2017 is recognised by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region as one of the celebration events of the 20th Anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR. It is a huge support and recognition to our effort in promoting the sport of jump rope in Hong Kong and Asian region in all these years.

 

We take pride in hosting this tournament and are glad to have fifteen countries to come to Hong Kong to participate in the event.  We have much thanks to the overseas teams. Your participation, have given an invaluable opportunity for our athletes and jump rope enthusiasts to see and learn the world class level skills of our sport.

 

I would also like to congratulate the medalists, particularly those athletes who have set new World records in their events. Your outstanding performance have made the tournament a memorable event.  In the past days, I was pleased to see that our jumpers have shown the Invaluable Assets of our sport, the sportsmanship, friendship, and fair play that can be sum up as the Olympic Spirit.

 

Taking this opportunity, I would like to express my thanks to all the officials, volunteer helpers and parties which have assisted in the organisation of this event. It is due to your effort, this event is successfully staged.

 

In the past few days, this tournament has drawn much public attention. Through the staging of jump rope competitions, we have demonstrated that Jump Rope is a formal sport that suits people of all ages, and is worth recommending to the public. With the success, it gives us the courage to aim high and strive for earning a place in the Asian Games and, if possible, the Olympic Games, in the long run.  Therefore, I would like to pass a message to the jump rope community who are watching the live-stream, ‘Let’s go to the Olympic”.

 

Lastly, we would like express our gratitude to you all for attending this event and wish to have your great and continuous supports.
